With A Little Bit Of Luck

With a little bit of luck we can make it through the night... Busting out some old garage joints, and remembered how sick this track was. For those who never engaged the garage scene, you missed out. Grab this track to get a blast from the past.

Zeds Dead Part II

For everyone that liked the last post I did on Zeds Dead, there was a tune that I've been hanging on to since then, and now I can finally share it with you. This also happened to be my favourite of the bunch, a sweet remix, one thats definitely worthy of pounding out in the club. DJ's take note, this is a tune you should be sticking in your set lists.

Electro fused dubstep, yes it's not a common genre you'd use to describe a track, but this has both elements, making it born to be smacked out on the dancefloor. Oh, and anyone who wanted the Dark Side Dub in 320, ask and Zeds Dead will give.. Enjoy.

Feel free to give feedback, we'd like to know what you think.

Bring Da Funk

As fads come and go within the constantly evolving genre which is house certain sounds seem to have a certain sustainability, namely these sounds being made by top end music makers whos production skills are able to create tracks with a crisp, clear and none to generic sound. Gramophonedzie is one of these guys, hailing from Serbia the guy has been around for many years now and permorming under mainly aliases continues to go from strength to strength and surely even bigger things are yet to come!

Check out his myspace for furthur releases as he has a handful on the way that even blow the tracks he's allowing us to post out the water!

The ODB track is without a doubt my fave so if your just going to grab one then getting that is a top shout.

Why Not?

25 of dubstep and drum&bass' finest artists the day after Christmas. Why not? returns for a show that will liturally blow your grandmas stockings up the fucking chimney and up santa's arse. You might want to make sure not to over do it, dancing like a twat when your full of mince pies might not be as easy as you're used to. Free xmas gift from Rinse in celebration of the event?.... Why Not.

Feast your eyes on this line-up, the 15 bob is well worth it..

Back With The Dirt

Yeh I've slacked off a bit, real busy at the moment with some film work but the tunes will keep coming. Nice to hear from Pond Life again, his tunes are always packed with dirt. This one is no exception, packed with squidgy basslines and just plain disgusting sounds. Im gonna kick Decibel and Midaft to post through the crazy amounts of stuff that they've been sent, I can only do so much.. Enjoy.

Ive also started to dabble in a spot of producing, not the track that Decibel gave me credit for haha, but I might share it once its done.. Also, check out some fresh dirt from Cookie Monsta & Southbound Hangers on their spaces if you fancy a quick slap in the face..

Jakwobble

Everyone's down for a bit of wobble, and they don't get much wobblier than Jakwob. Nice to see him getting some shows lined up, the guy is constantly putting out stuff so fresh it makes you realise you need to go wash yourself real quick.

Im loving the Zurich advert re-shuffle, delivered in perfect Jakwob style with nice bouncy basslines and a punchy beat keeping your head nodding in a vertical motion. Grab all these tunes before your mates do.

These should get you in the mood for the weekend, unfortuneatly I'm skint, and feel ill as shit right now. Decibel is spinning at Annie Mac Presents tonight at Digital along with Fake Blood, Doorly & Eskimo Twins. Anyone from Newcastle going to that, give him a slap from me..

Vaski Interview

Haven't done an interview in a while, so hopefully I'll start making this a regular thing. In our last interview with Datsik, he mentioned Vaski as one of his favourite producers at the time. I'd have to agree with him, and anyone who's copped his latest release can see the potential this guy has.

Since then he's made a few VIP's of some older tracks, and was kind enough to swing us his Terror Dome VIP for our Rambo Duck Mixtape. Look at the end of this interview for a very early Christmas present. Big up's to Vaski, and show some support by buying his shit here. You won't be disappointed. Anyway, lets get this thing started..

Hosta: Easy, whats going down in the world of Vaski lately?

Vaski: Ha, nothing too interesting mate! A few weeks after World On Fire EP was released I began the slow work of porting all my shit to external hard drives. Im currently in the process of upgrading my setup, redoing my PC and upgrading to Windows 7. Sadly, m-audio is behind and no drivers exist for their midi keyboards for the new os, so I'm a little stuck.

Hosta: Haha im glad to say ive left the world of Windows behind me and started to appreciate the beast that is apple! haha anyway how is it that you started to get into producing your own music?

Vaski: Ive actually been "Producing" since I was 11. My Dad got me hooked on acid pro 2.0. I just grew up with different programs over time and am now happily running FL 9. In the past I made electro and a little dnb, but none of it was ever released. I first heard dubstep at a summer festival on a huge system. I was so into it, that as soon as I got home, I started to make a dubstep track (it happened to be Release Her) My friends really liked what I was coming up with, so I just kept going :)

Hosta: Haha at first I thought you said your dad got you hooked on acid! Yeh I first got into dubstep when I heard Skream's "midnight request line', and then my eyes were opened to the range of styles and sub-genres it included in the scene. It seems that US have a different approach to their styles of dubstep, where do you take influence from to make your beats?

Vaski: All of us here in the states are inspired by our giant cars and nationalist attitude. Ha, but seriously, I draw influence from a lot of things. Images, other art, nights out with my mates, girls, etc. I'm one of those people who drifts away from time to time. My friends joke with me about spending too much time tuned into the creative side and not enough time on the real side.

Hosta: Got to agree with you on the giant cars. Ive been to America a few times and your trucks are fucking massive! Ever heard of a mini? Haha, but in all seriousness the US seems to be starting to catch the dubstep 'bug', how do you feel about the american dubstep scene?

Vaski: I definitely recognize that us "Yanks" are listening for a different sound then some of the UK heads who have been into the genre for longer. The US is heavily dominated by Hiphop and metal, and alot of the dubstep that people like here seems to draw influence from both, the slow 70-ish bpm of Hiphop with the heavy sounds of hard rock. I think it really took artists like Bar 9 and Rusko to start getting the US on board. What some people in the UK don't realize is that dubstep in America is still waaaayyy trendy/underground. If you say "Dubstep" to a random kid, 9 times out of 10 he will have no idea what it is.

Hosta: Yeh, I mean dubstep has been around in the UK for a long while, but only really started breaking the a few years ago. Many artists think that 2007 was a groundbreaking year, so many huge tracks coming into the scene and also new styles emerging. How would you describe your style of dubstep?

Vaski: My Dubstep is made so that people other then DJs can enjoy it. It's definitely mixable, but not annoying to listen to without skipping the intro. My music is the expression of emotion, and I really mean that. Everything you hear, is something that I have felt. My songs are me, in the form of music. Does that make sense? Probably not. Anywya, As I'm getting more established as an artist, I feel more able to do music exactly as I want. I see that people like the music that I make just for the sake of making it.

Hosta: Word. I think that producers should make music for themselves first and foremost. But its nice when people really feel what you're doing. Your World Of Fire EP (released recently under Rottun) has really taken off, were you surprised at the response?

Vaski: Yes and no. I was not surprised in the least when "World on Fire" broke the top ten charts. However, I was very surprised at the response to "Get Down." It was not made with the intent of a chart topper by any means. I made what I was feeling that day. Straight up. And I think theres something in there for everyone. Beautiful melodies and sick ass basslines. I think we will be seeing a similar polarizing trend in the future, and not just from me.

Hosta: I hope so. What do you think people made of your 'rick rolled' track haha

Vaski: Well, it was actually an entire rick roll EP. I am well aware that people download music from torrents and rapid share etc. I just made a special version with some extra audio in the tracks for those who wanted my music for free :)

Hosta: Haha I know ive sent it to a few people that asked me for stuff. Lets just say they didnt ask me again haha. Any other producers out there, Show your support to the Rick Roll EP! Anyway speaking of support, whats it like getting support from heavyhitters Datsik, Excision and Numbernin6?

Vaski: Its the same as getting support from friends. As artists, we are influenced by eachother, and when we like someone else's work, we let everyone know!

Hosta: all time top five tunes?

Vaski: Hmmmmm Bar 9 -Midnight, DZ - Down, Jakes - Rock Tha Bells, Torqux - Relentless (16Bit Remix), Bar 9 - Gunslinger.

Hosta: Nice, what tunes are you feeling at the moment?

Vaski: Marchmellow - Reel Simple VIP, Funtcase - Takin The Piss, 16Bit - Panic, Giant - Drumstick VIP, Datsik - Mechano...

Hosta: Agreed, Datsik is killing it at the moment, maybe in the future he'll hit UK. Anyway, whats lined up for the future of Vaski? anything to get our nipples hard?

Vaski: ....................Dubstep.................with words??

Hosta: Do you have any big interests other then music?

Vaski: Well I actually used to work in banking, but I wouldn't say finance is a huge interest haha. However I do like cars quite a bit, I drive a modded-out Subaru Impreza WRX. It's fun as hell and a source of inspiration in my music.

Hosta: Nice. Where would you like to be in 5 years time?

Vaski: I'd like to have a number of solid world tours under my belt, and I would defiantly like to have worked with some big name vocalists on collabs.

Hosta: Famous last words?

Vaski: Contrary to popular belief, I'm not from Canada!

Everyone look out for Vaski's future productions, you all know they are going to smash the fuck out of your minds. Here's a track to add to your collection. Tell us what you think.

Also got a few more interviews lined up, who likes Cookies?
